For decades, scientists have been warning the world that the climate is changing due to the ever-increasing emissions of greenhouse gases, mainly due to large-scale burning of fossil fuels, that may cause irreversible damage to the planet's ecosystems.
Extreme cyclones, frequent flash-floods and heavy precipitation, rising sea level, global temperature rise, wildfires, extreme droughts are just some of the impacts of climate change and they are already happening and we are experiencing their effects in everyday life.
In this context, the Mauritian authorities have developed a number of policies and taken several measures to enhance the resilience of the country and progress towards a low emission pathway. Climate change adaptation and mitigation are among the top priorities in the Government's Programme 2015-2019.

Mauritius being a tiny island, its coastal zone is prone to such highlighted erosion. this issue should be addressed urgently by relevant authorities.
